PRFM Facial Rejuvenation

PRP Worcester

Platelet-rich plasma, aka PRP is a natural, minimally-invasive therapy that is a safe and effective treatment for facial rejuvenation. PRP injection is a novel procedure that uses your own blood to promote collagen, elastin fibers, new cells and growth factors. This natural healing process is used to provide effective rejuvenation from the inside out.

At Pure Bliss Aesthetics, we use SELPHYL® PRFM (Platelet-rich fibrin matrix), also known as the next generation or purest form of PRP. Many PRP systems have varying results and have extensive contamination with red blood cells and white blood cells, whereas SELPHYL® removes virtually all contaminating cells. PRP is converted to PRFM through a controlled process that serves to protect and preserve platelets.

At your appointment, you can expect to get your blood drawn. The blood is then spun in a centrifuge system which separates the platelet-rich fibrin matrix from the rest of the blood. The highly concentrated platelet-rich fibrin matrix is then injected in areas of your concern.

Platelets are a type of cell that accelerates tissue healing. When we have an injury, the body has the capacity to heal itself by migrating the site with platelets and other components found in human blood. It can rejuvenate the skin by restoring volume and radiance, improving skin quality and texture, and softening wrinkles and fine lines. The most common areas of injection are:

  • Tear troughs helping dark under eyes and hollowness

  • Deep wrinkles and fine lines including nasolabial folds (laugh lines), glabella line, forehead lines

  • Cheeks for volume loss

  • Acne scars

  • Hair regrowth

What are the PRFM Treatment Side Effects?

PRFM treatments are very safe. Because the process uses your own blood, there are no known side effects known to date for PRFM treatment. As with any injectable procedure, some patients may experience some mild and temporary irritation, swelling, bruising, itching, discoloration or tenderness at the injection site. In addition, you may have a bruise at your injection site where you blood was drawn. In rare cases, skin infection or reaction may occur, which is easily treated with an antibiotic or inflammatory. Please contact your provider immediately if you notice unusual discomfort, redness, warmth, or drainage.

How many treatments will I need?

We recommend a total of two to three treatments scheduled one month apart, and to evaluate six weeks after the second or third treatment. Prior to injecting, a topical numbing cream may be used to help with any discomfort. This procedure typically lasts about 45 minutes.

How long do PRFM results last?

Onset of results vary. Your treatment can take up to 30 days to begin taking effect. Treatments are cumulative and results are temporary, typically lasting about 12-18 months. Retreatment approximately every 12 months is recommended to maintain your results after your initial treatment series is completed.
